Specifications and FAQ's for Hypervision security Cameras
Cloud Camera Vs 4G
There are essentially 2 types of 4G remote cameras
CLOUD BASED & 4G ALERT ACCURACY Cloud cameras sent to the cloud and then to the client 4G Cameras send to the client and also to i-cloud (If set to back up)
Different brands of cameras operate one of these 2 ways. Hypervision use 4G Cameras
Why? (This applies to camera hire clients / not fuill time installations) Both types of systems have their own merits.
GENERAL : CLOUD BASED
1: Cameras are not 4G direct, cloud based
2: Camera is handed over to monitoring centre or client once connected
3: SA Goverment have banned certain cloud cameras ( See link or google for info )
4: No schedule changes in app without hire company
4: Hire company will not check cameras unless alerted by client
5: Most (Affordable) cloud cameras need lights as they run IR at night Not ideal in summer as they attract bugs (Bugs mean false alerts & cleaning)
6: Cloud based cameras require Sign up for Supervisors + complicated APP
7: Clouds can be slow and problematic at times of high telco traffic
8: Cloud base cameras can require large batteries, meaning a truck / crane is required to deliver
9: Cloud base cameras can require a lot of power which means large solar panels. (these are the panels you see all over the ground after high winds)
10: Most affordable cloud camera have fixed lenses
11: The Cloud cameras we tested, can be blocked with a high powered torch.
(Can even deactivate them at times)
ALERT BASED MONITORING
Unless on the payroll. Cloud cameras are not "on watch", which means if (when) a camera does down, the only person that wil be aware, is the client. (Most clients do not check their cameras often) Even the monitoring company wil not be aware, as cameras only report alerts. So no alerts ... no idea!
Also monitoring companies can only view the 4-8 second clip or image sent to them from the camera, which means they have no power to investigate. (They cannot log into cameras)
NO WRITTEN REPORTING or AUDIT OPTIONS
When a camera triggers there are NO picture alerts to client except from monitoring room.
No daily reporting (Can’t audit previous night) Written morning reports should correspond with client alerts / emails and evidence
There are No written reports available
Client won’t know if a camera is down or if alert a was missed, as no-one checking.
If the hire company does not receive alert from camera, Client will not be alerted - as cloud based)

How much footage will a camera store?
For 4G cameras (No power or hard drive) A camera can hold as much footage history as the SD card allows and then it will write over the data. One way to keep longer term history is to download weekly or have an I-cloud (motion only) attached (Up to 60 days). Other options would be to request and SD card size upgrade. On an average site with light activity, 14-45 days would considered normal. But a heavy day of continuus recording could dramtically reduce this to 5-7 Days with a stardard SD card.
Why is my camera battery going flat?
See this link for more information: Battery Management
Can we get 24/7 Monitoring
Yes absolutely! We can connect you to our 24 Hour Monitoring Centre and Foot Patrol Service for all cameras. Please contact us for information. For setting up your monitoring after delivery see this link
Why is my camera running, but not recording?
Unless a fault has been identified with your site camera, the most common reason cameras are not recording on motion activation, is that someone has turned the PIR off (Under settings). It's not uncommon when trades work through a weekend or after hours that Supervisors log in and turn the PIR off to stop the email alerts, which deactivates the motion sensing of the camera. The problem with this, is that if you forget to turn it back on, it will not send alerts or record on motion. The camera will still be live, but will not record anything on motion trigger. Alas, sometimes you won't be aware of this until you next review playback. A much more effective way to deactivate a camera is to turn the EMAILS OFF or RE-SCHEDULE the camera to come back on later in the day. Another reason maybe that the RECORD function has been turned off for seom reason. It is good practice to check playback on all fleet cameras once per week or fortnight to ensure they are recording ok.
When cameras arrive to site, they are tested and running on alert, but from the point of handover, camera settings are up to each client to manage, as Hypervision cannot override what supervisors may want. We also offer a "Managed camera" service where we check cameras for you on a weekly basis.

Does it cost to move a camera or Equipment?
Once a camera goes on hire... it's your camera and you can move it where you like! Move it around the site or even to a new location (In line with your rental contract terms). If you need us to move equipment, we are happy to help and offer a 7 day service! We do require 7-10 Day notice for equipment pick up and shifting, plus free and clear access. See Services
Why Is My Camera Sending Alerts With No Activity?
Your camera will fire and send an email anytime it is triggered by an event. It is rare for them to send spook emails! However the things that can fire it off on site are: Plastic Blowing Around Unsecured Toilet Doors A bird flying through or landing
Cats, Dogs and Animals
A bright reflection (Sun flare)
A Spider on the Lense If you think the camera is going off for no reason, please contact us!
What If My Camera Stops Working?
If you are a GOLD Customer and your camera has developed a fault and stopped working, we will replace your camera as follows:
3-7 days for local installations 5-14 Days for Country Installations For GOLD PLUS Plan clients: We offer a priority 48 Hour Changeover Service Where Possible. (Metro Area) For SILVER Plans, we offer a MAIL BACK Warranty Claim. We also offer insurance policies for cameras as an option. If you have not taken out a HYPERVISION insurance cover and your camera has been damaged by someone or something, you will need to claim this on your home / Contents insurance policy for replacement.
Who can see my video feed?
Each camera has a dedicated video feed from the camera to you via phone lines. Not Wifi! We do not reccommend WiFi Cameras ( See article ) You can see your video feed. Our office security monitoring team can also access your feed. But as a rule, we will not access your feed unless asked to do so or you have a monitoring arrangement with us. Your feed is private (Unlike WiFi)
Do the cameras feature GPS?
100% not! Our cameras DO NOT features GPS! The problem with a camera featuring GPS is that in the unliklely event a hacker does manage to gain access to your feed, they would also know exactly where your property is and whats going on there!
What if the camera is stolen, damaged or lost?"
You are responsible for insurance of any equipment while it is under your rental agreement. Simply add the equipment to your contents or site insurance. It should not cost anything extra. In some instances it may reduce your premiums. We do offer insurance on cameras for around $4 per week. Please contact us for this option.
Can I purchase a camera or gear?
We do sell some cameras, mounts and equipment. Please contact us
Why would I rent it rather than buy?
Renting a surveillance camera for business offers many, many advantages over purchasing unless you have time to manage your cameras. See article on Why Rent!
Can I purchase a camera after renting?
Yes its possible! Please contact us re availability
Why didn't I receive a picture with my email?
Poor network connection is the most likely scenario. Your camera will try and send a picture at the time of alarm alert, but it there is no / low signal via the telstra towers, this may fail. Cold weather and weather events may exaggerate this as phone signals weaken in the cold You will still get an email telling you the camera has triggered and you can log in for a look if desired. You will normally receive many emails in a row if there is activity on site.
INSURANCE! Who pays if there is equipment damage?
In short .. you do! 1: Many clients choose to add the hire cameras / equipment to their site insurance. 2: If you've taken the insurance option we offered, then we cover you with an applicable excess. 3: All Rental Equipment is on dry hire to you the Renter. It is your responsibility to maintain it and keep it safe at all times so if there is no insurance coverage, then you will wear any damage costs.
